I hope other, more educated people will answer, but I suggest you seek medical attention ASAP. Envenomations from Bitis species are not known to be kind to the human victim. The massive swelling you speak of may only be a prelude to mild or massive necrosis within a day or two. Once again, I suggest you seek medical attention immediately.

Are you crazy?!Get to a hospital immediately! If you don't mind permanent loss of motility in your hand (or worse, loss of your limb) well, continue to do what you are doing. I would guess that you would still like to work with your hands. Remember that you still have to use your hands for the rest of your life! Please don't harm yourself for whatever reasons (pride, embarrasement, etc,) you are choosing not to go to the hospital. My bet is that necrosis will set in if it hasn't already. Best of luck to you and best wishes for a speedy recovery.

I don't buy it, but just for the game of it I will tell you that even 50 mg of the puffs venom would cause so much necrosis that even the most hard core man could not stand. Many die from just the pain alone!
