Anyone on here know of a good summary of
a.) how early on--using fossorial or other clues--venom evolved in snakes?
b.) whether we know if the evolution of snake venom predates other animals' venoms?

Adam, go to Science Daily and use the search engine there for the last 10 years, and you will find many articles that answer your questions.

John,
Thank you for your response (and a belated thanks for your advice re: Takacs Giant Viper video). It's reassuring to know that a neophyte with big, sweeping queries can get quick info/direction here...

Wonderful paper that is going to take me weeks/months to finish and begin to digest, LOL. Thank you Dr. Fry for pointing it out and sharing. I look forward to reading it.

Thanks Dr. Fry for a great article !
And not just that one, as it is very, very nice that you, and Wolfgang make you research available in PDF form and assessable for folks. It is Greatly appreciated !
There is nothing more frustrating when researching to find a abstract of a publication, and some greedy site that wants you to pay a fee to read the paper.
Best Regards

Thank you for this. I'm lucky in that I live near some world class research institutions, but having something available online in pdf is hugely helpful...

Here is another relevant one

and another that is the first of my new research directions. I am branching out to other taxon types, in this case it provided the perfect excuse for some scuba diving in the Coral Sea :p

Once again Dr. Fry, thank you very much for sharing. I am at the end of this school year with graduation and senior exams to give in the next couple of weeks. I look forward to a summer of "recharging", and your papers will give me an excellent source of informative reading that I enjoy. Take care.

"Assembling an Arsenal" is indeed a great read, and yes, it has taken weeks and months to "digest" and then some. But hey, that's what you want, ain't it? Got me through a long, hard winter. Thanks BGF & WW.
