I've always have a few fruit flies , flying around my hot room. They're attracted to the food dishes in my iguana's and beardies cages. But they've never been a problem until now. This past week or 2 has been like a fruit fly EXPLOSION! They're thick in there! I've never seen them so thick. Any suggestions on how to be rid of them besides turning loose a bunch of dart frogs? I thought about a "No Pest Strip" for awhile, but I've heard as many or more cons to pros on them.I hung a fly strip, but it doesn't seem to be catching very many.Any suggestions will be appreciated. Take care, Marty

I would go ahead with the no-pest strip until you knock them back a few. Hang it a few feet above and outside the enclosure.
Then I would grab a shallow dish with a lip to feed from. I use oversized ones so the lizard does not drag food off into the substrate. Then remove and wash the dish daily and take out what the animal does not eat in about 30 minutes. This is what we do at the zoos and other large collections to keep most insects down.
Good luck.

Thanks, I'll give the strip a try.I usually don't leave food in the cages more than an hour or 2.I'll try to cut that back some. The iguana usually finishes hers anyway.Just weird, seems like overnight, they hatched from somewhere.

Dang, I hung a "No Pest Strip" in the hot room this morning and I don't see a single insect this evening! All of the fruit flies are gone.(except now I have tiny corpses everywhere.)It worked great. I think I'll take it down in the morning and vacuum pack it till I need it again, and do a thorough cleaning of the room. Take care, Marty
