I know of no one who's been able to keep them alive. They usually arrive in bad shape and don't survive very long. Don't buy this species to discourage the collecting of them from the wild. Why buy one and give it what amounts to a death sentence.

Years ago I kept numerous Bush Vipers includeing Hispida ,the younger snakes started out on small frogs . Such as Eleutherodactylus Johnstonei, and on some occasions Pseudacris Crucifer. Keep in mind that the subadults will survive much better. House the young snakes in plastic quart jars with about 2 inches of aquarium gravel at the bottom ,only mist once or twice a week. When feeding put 2 frogs in the jar and keep them in over night. If they are not taken by the next morn remove them and try again in about 5 days. Keep day time, and night temps between 78-80 max. Also keep in mind in the late 60s and early 70s keeping buhmasters, emerald greens was a task. Good luck Chris

Correct, most die soon after arriving but some of the healthy ones do take small frogs for few moths and then they roll. These are my personal experiences. In South Africa we really don't even bother with them but I believe there was fellow who bred them and kept them alive on some sort of slug.
