Lets hear some good stories about the ones we missed and the biggest or most exciting find. Until recently, a coral snake that I found in Waycross is the coolest find for me. Iv'e caught everything from Diamondbacks to Cottonmouths, but the coral really got me excited. Grey Doss

I missed a massive Cottonmouth, while back in the Bayou last spring and still get mad thinking about it. She was laying on a log, when we floated up to it and I tried to tail it over into the boat, but missed. Terry Davis

Two I cam remember off the top of my head :
One was on my first trip to Lahitas.
We had a van that was unusually high and had a step-up to get in. I wasn't used to it and on my turn in the front seat we passed a big suboc and I jumped out to run back, forgot about the step and landed on my face in the street ... my glasses skidding one direction and the flashlite rolling the other ... LOL.
I was pissed missing my first suboc but it was worth the laugh !
Another was in Okeetee and seeing a real nice 3 foot cornsnake coiled on top of a stump in the sun. I was only about four feet from it when I saw thru the bramble but just couldn't get through the damn thorns in time. As I struggled trying to get through the snake unwound and disappeared into the stump hole just as I got to it ; torn up by the thorns and too late to catch the snake.

Hot day, hadn't found anything for hours, when not three feet away a 6+ ft. Western Coachwhip exploding from underneath a small mesquite tree. It escaped into a small hole underneath a rock the size of Wyoming. I was heartbroken, as that was the exact species of snake I was looking for. To my surprise, however, as I was investigating the hole, a beautiful 1.0 3ft. C.atrox meandered around the other side of the rock, and allowed me to hook him with no problem!
