I see them for sale from time to time in US, but export from Australia is a big road block. Same with other species such as Acanthophis sp..

I'm not aware of them being specifically banned anywhere in the U.S., but they might be somewhere.
The main thing is not that they are banned, but just that they are nto availible. Mainland Australia (the only place they are native to) generally does not allow export of any animals except to accredited zoos, and then only with an agreement that they will not transfer any (including offspring) to the public. (This is my understanding, it could be inacurate.)
I assume the reason for this is that when anything becomes availible in the pet trade it then becomes very difficult to prove if one was exported illegally. Of course, you can't expect a government to look far enough ahead to see that getting them into the pet trade would greatly reduce the pressure to smuggle them out in the future...

Perhaps they are banned in England.
Generally the people who respond here are knowledgable of the laws in the various states in which they live with some notable exceptions who will take the time to look up laws in other states.
Covering the laws from countries other than the US can be tricky.
If you want to know the real answers on laws in the UK, you might try contacting Wolfgang Wuster who posts on here as CAISSICA.

Good point. Sorry I failed to notice that you were not in the U.S, Andy. I know nothing useful about England's wildlife laws.
