Andrew, it kinds of depend on who you are writing it for.
A paper for school could be a lot different than a paper for a science journal.
If you go to Google, and type "how to write a scientific paper" you will find a number of sites who have general style sheets that you can copy the format of.
However, If you want to write for a specific journal, say Herp Review, you will find that they often have guidelines that you must follow. Sometimes you can find those guidelines on their websites, and sometimes you will find a section in the journal that tells you to write to someone, and they will mail you the guidelines.
One of the best things to do, is look for similar articles in the journal itself, and see just how the writer formatted the article. Often, college libraries have a science floor, with a good collection of scientific journals that you might be able to read through.
Best Regards

This will really depend on where your paper is going and the subject matter. If this paper is for school, you should ask your teacher what format they want the paper and documentation to be in. After you get this information there is a numbers of sites that will assist you in putting it in APA format for example. The latest versions of WORD will also assist you in formatting your documentation. Good luck!!
