I have seen several programs on the box jellfish and have often wondered how people are not dying from them on a daily basis, given the fact of how many people surf in Australia. Aren't they the #2 most toxic venom of all ? and are they not common, because I get hit by a jellyfish almost every time I swim in the Chesapeake Bay. Grey

People aren'y dying on a daily basis because its well known to be a problem during the summer in Queensland beaches. That said, people still get stung. A few days after a recent death, we were up catching jellyfish for a documentary. There was a moronic tourist couple frolicking in the surf behind me as I'm holding a jellyfish I just got. We made sure to include them in the shot to get the point across about how stupid people can be. It wasn't till later that we noticed that the girl in frame behind my shoulder was topless!! Ah well, it was for German television ;-)
Cheers
