Is there an inexpensive way to treat a turtle with a Vitamin A deficiency? I found him on my property yesterday. I cleaned up his eyes and let him go. He's still there.
I don't want to turn him into a $200 turtle. I want to fix him up inexpensively if possible.
Thanks in advance,
Jon S.

His eyes are shut and swollen. If I soak him they will kind of open.
I found him on a road not far from my house, and took him to my property to let him go. I found him 2 days ago with his eyes swollen shut. I watched him all day and he didn't move, so I took him home and cleaned his eyes up then let him go. He's still there.

Just sharing my personal experience, if it is infection, I would keep giving it injected Baytril, need vet prescription.
.
If just stress of not being in the wild ,injectable B vitamin, B12 and 6, to stimulate appetite.
And add proper diet with extra powder vitamins to correct the A deficiency...I am not a doctor just a reptile keeper of over 20 plus years, I still have box turtles i got over 20 years ago, wild caught,...Vitamin injetables u can get cheaply without prescription from feed stores.
