Does anyone know they type of venom, or better yet constituent proteins or enzymes, of Bitis paarviocula? I can not find any detailed information on this snake.
Thank you

Doug,
It does kind of sound like a venom profile is what he is asking about.
Are those available at some web site ?
I would be very interested in comparing venom components also, for many snake venoms, if that information was readily available somewhere.
Can you help up out with a link ?
Best Regards
John Z

On the short list of things to-do after I finish up some lizard venom projects as well as vampire bat and Antarctic octopus venoms :) Some time in 2010

Dr. Fry-
I would be quite intersted in the bat work. These are another one of my interests. Of course, I'll be interested in all the the items.

John-
We have a number of venom profiles on our site, (http://ntrc.tamuk.edu/). We too have many things on the frontburner and the site is in dire need of updating and adding a couple dozen more profiles. One day soon (I keep telling myself that).

Thanks !
I am looking forward to reading the venom profiles.
It is always surprising to find out just how some venoms are made up.

It's likely that it's quite simular to Gaboons & Rhinos from the few human bites that have occured. SAMIR seems to be effective which also points in that direction. The details will have to wait till BGF gets around to it.

Here’s a link to a site with the venom fractions listed for Bitis. There is no specific for Bitis Parviocula, but you can search for Bitis gabonica, Bitis arietans etc (and adjust sequence redundancy in search) and see which are common to all Bitis and begin to make some assumptions about what is in Bitis Parviocula. You can, of course, do a search for many other types of venoms as well.

Yep, I was hoping for some sort of profile. This sounds like it is still in the works though, so I keep my eyes peeled. This snake appears to be a pretty stellar looking species, so I was interested in how much research had been done on its venom. Thanks to all for the feed back.
