OK, so everyone be gentle here. After a 3 yr recovery from an on the job accident, I have come to the realization that I will never work in my old profession again (I was a residential remodelling and framing contractor). I am now in school full time taking a 2 yr course to get my associates degree as a vet assist. Now I have always raised large and small constrictors, had a few run ins with rattlesnakes and a very shy coral, but never kept anything venomous captive.
I realize that I will most likely end up in a veterinary ER, but I will be applying with a couple of zoo's and a rattlesnake museum here, and would love it if the eventual outcome was me working in some sort of herp environment. I have always found venomous very interesting, and I find myself at times reading husbandry sheets and other facts from various Hots online, so I would like to ask if anyone has any ideas as far as reading material goes, and anything else I should know or do before I walk in and present a very green resume. Also, I live in Albuquerque NM, so if there is anyone local, I'm all ears. As always, thanks.

I have been looking at a couple of series of books specifically dedicated to reptiles. If you are going to be getting into veterinary medicine, Reptile Care by Frye is a fantastic read. A distant second is The Biology, Husbandry and Health Care of Reptiles (which is a 3 book series).
While they don't focus specifically on venomous reptiles, they give a good background on reptile physiology and health care in general.
Hope this helps
