How many folks got sick after the Columbia Show ??

From talking with other vendors who were at the Columbia Repticon Show, I am finding that many of us came down with severe upper respiratory / bronchial / sinus infections following the show.
None of these infections are flue like, as they do not involve nausia, fever, etc.
When the building got hotter, the Air Conditioning Unit in the Jamil Temple was turned on for the first time in a while. The Condensers in these units are known to be breeding grounds for various molds, mildews, fungi, viruses, and bacteria.
Now, a lot of people are sick.
I have heard reports of folks seeing mold and water leaks in the ceiling of the building.
Something like this happened a few years back at the same location, but most folks at the time blamed it on the nasty hotel. However, this time, folks were spread out in 6 or 7 hotels.
That leaves the Jamil Temple as a possible source, from either the food court, or the building itself.
Tomorrow I will file a complaint with the South Carolina Department of Health, and the CDC here in Atlanta, and insist that the building be inspected.
If we were all exposed to bacteria, it is something that antibiotics will clear up, but will still involve a cost. If we were exposed to something worse, like mold spores, that is far more dangerous.
The Shriners have a obligation to keep that building healthy if they are going to rent it out. And if their lack of maintenance does prove the cause of folks getting sick, then they also have a obligation to pay for the medical expenses of those people.
What I would like to know now, from folks who attended the show, or, vended at the show, how many of you developed severe respiratory problems following the show, and, perhaps are still suffering from them ?
I will be posting this on several forums, and encourage all of you who might have become sick, to post the same on your forums. If we have been exposed to something dangerous, it is very important that we find out soon.
It is likely that this post will upset the folks at Repticon, as they do not want to piss off the Shriners. However, OUR HEALTH is far more important, and I hope the Repticon folks will contact all of the folks who attended the show by Email, so that a list can be made for possible treatment.
If that building is dangerous to the health of folks who use it, then a new location should be found.
Please reply here and post the results from other forums here, if you know of anyone who has had the same problems in the days following the show.
Thanks for your help.
Best Regards
John Z

I did, actually, and wound up having to take a sick day on Monday due to severe asthma Sunday night. I really didn't make any connections to the show site, other than the fact that there were a lot of people there selling rodents, including the person at the same table with me. There were also rabbits across the ailse from me. I'm horribly allergic to rodents and rabbits, and sort of expected to have SOME sort of reaction, but I figured it would dissipate once I got home from the show. Instead, these respiratory issues got worse. I'm still wheezing a bit, and I always have sinus congestion pretty much year-round, but I didn't realize that others had experienced the same thing after attending this show.

Wow!
That happened years ago at a facility we rented for our show in Arlington, Tx. Some vendors got sick with flu-like symptons. The mold/mildew from the venue was so bad when we walked in for set-up, that we had the hotel staff wipe down the wall's with a bleach solution before the start of the show on Sat. Someone, I forgot who, as this was many years ago, called the Dept. of Health, and they inspected the ballroom where the show was held and shut it down and we had to hurrily rent another facility down the street and place notices everywhere telling everyone where the new location was. It was a nightmare.

I had an asthma attack and had to use albuterol to control it. My lungs were irritated for many hours.

My symptoms weren't "flue-like" at all. I didn't have digestive issues or a fever; I just couldn't breathe without using my inhaler. My lungs are also still irritated and I've still got some wheezing and shortness of breath, though not bad enough to keep me home from work. I was up all night Sunday, doing everything I could to open my airways, and actually contemplated going to the ER. I just assumed it was a combo of exposure to so many rats and other rodents and the change in weather, which often does trigger some sort of respiratory response in me. It IS cold and "bug" season, and with a lot of people packed into a closed building, there's bound to be a lot of viruses and stuff brought in, making the chances of catching something much higher, so it would be difficult to say whether all of us who experienced symptoms following the show got sick as a result of the air conditioning units, or just infections brought in by the public, especially if we ourselves didn't get tested for anything.

That is why the building needs to be inspected by the Health Department.
I have reports of mold growing on the ceiling and water damage in the roof.
So far, a fair number of folks who were in the venomous section have reported becoming sick, and so far, all have very similar lung / breathing problems.
This would tend to eliminate the idea of sick public bringing a disease to the show and effecting all of those people.
We need to know how many vendors in the non-venomous section also became ill. We are not likely to reach them from the venomous forums. If any of you can post on other non-venomous forums, please do so, so that we can get the big picture.
I hope everyone who is sick has a speedy recovery.
Best Regards

I feel like crap. I woke up Monday morning with a sore throat and tired as all heck. The throat soreness went away, but I feel worn out and weak like the flu. My legs are sore and ache, and I have been sleeping a lot. No fever or anything, but that is just how I am, never really getting very sick, but just a bad period of feeling like crap.
I showed the mold on the ceiling vents to Josh. I hoped to not get sick, attending such a big gathering of people, as I have no health care at this time.
