you named yourself dude........anyway, i'm giving it away......according to the info you sent, a common snapper can't be sold if smaller than 8" or traded for anything of value.......and since i don't wanna keep it and i see common snappers dead on the roads around here more often than possums, i figured someone who would take care of it could have it....i'm profiting nothing and to me, it's in the best interest of the turtle....i found it on my doorstep one morning.....not that big of a deal, if you wanna get the DNR involved, be my guest....if they show up at my door, i'll show up at yours :)

i just emailed the DNR and i'll see what they say as far as the legality of me giving it to someone who can take it.......i'll post up the reply

my county and surrounding counties are overrun with common snappers as it is........and especially since the recent flooding, they're moving and you will literally see 5-10 dead ones on the road every day....and not everyone wants them in their ponds, so that's what i'm trying to do...find someone to take it and basically relocate it......i'm maybe 20-30 minutes away from the tennessee river, but i had rather someone get it and keep it on their own land as opposed to it getting killed by a boat or whatever...lot's of marinas around here, not to mention i don't have time to go find a good spot except for way after dark.....anyway, got off the phone with the DNR enforcement woman, and she said relocating it is fine....i can't make any type of deal on it, but i can just simply give to someone to put in their own pond or whatever.....but this wasn't and still isn't a big deal....bill just wants to be contrary.....that's why i don't like him (william spencer).....so as i assumed, i'm doing nothing wrong.....there you go mr. bill :)

Actually, even having one in your possession at all for any reason, is illegal, even if one warden says its ok, if another happens to stop you, your in for a hassle. Seen it happen...they tend to get very excited about people messing with small turtles even if you have good intentions....

"It shall be unlawful to collects harvest, possess offer for sale sell or trade for anything of monetary value any common snapping turtle (Chelydra serpentina serpentina) or soft shell turtles (Apalone ferox, Apalone muticus muticus, Apalone muticus calvatus, Apalone spiniferus spiniferus, Abalone spiniferus asper) with a carapace length less than eight inches (Except any species protected under this paragraph taken in a live trap by a pond owner or his agent while controlling nuisance animals is exempt but may not be sold or offered for sale or traded for anything of monetary value )."
Yes, indeed, that does say that to "possess" is illegal.
Seems to me that someone, once again, had fizzbob's best interests at heart and tried to warn him by email in a nonpublic, friendly manner. And once again, here it is as a public display. Sorry for you, that someone tried to warn you that you were doing something that is illegal in public.
Here is another warning.
It is illegal to threaten someone in the following manner:
"if you wanna get the DNR involved, be my guest....if they show up at my door, i'll show up at yours :)"
Do not put up any other further threats on this website. Such behavior will not be tolerated.
