There was a "loose cobra" story around for awhile in NC, I think it just went away. Never heard any more about it. It was supposedly in the woods though, not a parking lot.

John is right on with this. The woman was illegally keeping venomous snakes in MD. She was bitten and then fabricated a story to try and conceal the fact she was bitten by her own animal.
BTW- the NC case was a pair of Monocled Cobras.

Sorry, that's right - the "fer-de-lance" was definitely in VA. As Marty demonstrated above, the best resource for researching such things is this forum right here...duh!

What I totally do not understand is how they can hold up these people who are already breaking the law as examples of why we need more laws.
That is absolutely bug wigging crazy!
These people are already breaking the law!
We don't need more laws!
Enforce the ones we already have!
Absolutely ridiculous!

People get stopped driveing with out a license every day or shop lifting.Countless laws are broke every day.Its the snake that gets the news.I am getting tired of all of this.I think it will be moot before long anyway. They do not care any more that you have 40 years involved in the field, that makes no headlines.Looks like we are being prepared for the end of our hobby day by day snake by snake.

yes, it i stupid to ask for more exotic laws because an already illegal person got hurt, but when Roy got injured in Vegas by tiger, it was like, well, if experts get injured, then nobody should have them. It is like saying if there is NASCAR car crash, we should ban personal cars, because a car expert crashed, so no pro driver will crash for sure,...lest all just take a hike
Also out of 20 big captive cat fatalities in USA since 1990 only 2 were in pet non USDA facilities, but it didnt stop our enemies to ask for pet bans...so don’t get distracted by facts, the real agenda is no animals in captivity, step by step, pets first, then non AZA, and than AZA facilities,...and our enemies will use any distraction they can to accomplish it, as most voting public is dumb.
