i have been told that the best time to find a copperhead is either early in the morning or in the evening because it is too hot during the day, what do you think

Depends on where you live, but after dark on old back roads is the best place and time to find them. Some roads in Va and Myrtle Beach, you can find dozens in one night. Julian

Here in Missouri, after dark between about 9 and 12 is my most succussful time. Not only black-top roads, but I also have gravel roads that produce a lot of specimen. I'm not sure if you would have success in the morning or not. Copperheads are nocturnal by nature, and especially when it is hot. Although they can be crepuscular at times too. I'm not surprised to sometimes find one before the sun sets. Good luck-Anthony MO
