Looking out the window today, May 31, 2003 My wife and I noticed a very large snake in our backyard, as I approached it I saw the rattle, the snake was dark with yellow marking on it. It then went into neighbors yard I called him we came out and threw a stick at it and he was rattleing like crazy, about 4 1/2 feet long after a little research I believe the snake to be a "Dark Morp" Timber Rattlesnake.
I do not have the snake in captivity, since my local Sheriff told me to stay away from it.
Any advice

Listen to the sheriff. Don't try to catch it or kill it.Thats how alot of people get bit.If you see it again, or your sure you know where it is, let me know and I'll be happy to re-locate it for you.I'm about 2 hours from woodstock.

Does your area have a snake removal service.? your local fish and game should know, or your local law offices. Or state offices. as sead before, do not try to kill, or remove it yourself, if you have no exp. with venomous snakes.

If the the yellow on the snake forms a diamond pattern it could be an eastern diamondback. I would just get someone out there who would catch it (preferably a professional) and release it far away from your home, especially if you have any children. That is what I would recommend for you to do.
