This is a very widespread snake and the venom has been studied extensively.
Basically there are a fair number of bites attributed to this snake, yet very few fatalities. The venom is mainly made of haemorrhagins and procoagulants. Hypotension leading to shock is common. Internal hemorrhaging may result in brain hemorrhages, renal failure and other bleeding-in complications.
