Ok, I have a rhino that went into shed about 2 months ago. She has not shed yet, and is taking food. She dose not appear to be sick, but has turned a dull grey color when she is usually very bright. I have been soaking her once a week trying to get her to shed. I even put mineral oil in the last soak to soften her up. Still nothing. Any suggestions?

i have often heard wet news paper in a bucket over night...crumple the paper, not just flat on the bottom of the bucket....you want the snake to crawl all around in it...

If you can find a burlap bag, the material is coarser than a pillow case and works well. But place the bag inside something like an empty trash can because the burlap can "separate" from the snake pushing from the inside allowing for escape from the bag. Not a problem it your prepared for it. Take care, Marty

I would personally recommend getting this snake checked out. Typically, when a snake is in shed and has trouble shedding, you will see some pieces of shed skin, or, some sign that the snake was trying to shed off the old skin...two months is a long time. After you have tried the suggestions and if you still don't have any luck, the snake could be showing symptoms of some underlying issues.

Danny, when a snake starts to shed, it has to break the skin loose at the edges of the mouth and nose.
The unfortunate thing, is that a lot of keepers have snakes in cages that offer nothing hard enough, or rough enough for the snake to accomplish this.
The cages have smooth glass walls and smooth glass or plastic water bowls. Make sure the cage also has a rock or a bark covered piece of wood. That will give the snake something to use to break the skin loose to get the shedding process started.
Best Regards
