I have known Walter for many years and he is a responsible venomous keeper. Its sad that he got bit and hope he is alright. The press as usual spins story for mass panic.

He had a very nice collection, many of which would be considered "high end" snakes. He is a very competent keeper. Your really going to judge him by what he calls home? Take care, Marty

I have known him now for a couple years. Heck of a nice guy and I have never seen or heard of him being anything other than a safe keeper. Remember we are talking about a bite, not an escape. Bites can happen to anyone, and have happened to a lot of us (keepers). Our job is to reduce the risk as much as possible and stay vigilant. I would have no problem with Walter living next door to me where my kid plays in the yard. I would consider it an upgrade.

I agree with Marty. To judge someone for where they live is wrong, especially when you dont know all the facts. I have spoken to Walter personally about this matter and in all honesty he is being thrown under the bus. When they came to his house, about a month after his bite which is is still recovering from, he was in the process of changing his caging setup. The reason his animals were taken is because of some labeling issues. He is a very compotent keeper and has/had a very nice collection. Hopefully he will get his animals back soon. So before you start making judgements please have all of the facts, because it could very easily be anyone of us that finds ourselves in a similar situation.

I don't knock folks that live in trailers. You do the best you can and that's it but looking at the news article and the pic they showed of his rotting gross trailer was hard enough to imagine how someone could care so little to take care of their home..

Wow, what venom on here against a fellow herper because of his home.
He has been called an idiot and his neighbors, who weren't shown, were called trash, which is really offensive. This was followed up the assumption that his trailer was rotting therefore he must not care for his reptiles. That's a lot of assuming going on around here.
To me, it appears to be a relatively new mobile home that is getting mildew down the sides from sitting under a tree. The same thing happens to my metal mailbox. There's nothing a little 409 or bleach won't remove. The trash in front of it is what's left of his set up after the police threw it out.
I don't even know him. However, nothing but good things have been said about him by people who do know him. So why so judgmental?
For a group of people who don't like to be looked down on for keeping snakes there is a lot of looking down upon on this thread. Isn't it enough that he was bitten and his collection removed? Does he really need to be judged by fellow herpers for one photo? Geez people!

Did you consider the one about his rotting gross trailor non-derogatory or the one that called him an idiot? I counted two.
