i am about to introduce my female rhino and my male gaboon viper in the hope that i can get them to breed.they are both 2008 babies that i got in hamburg.both are roughly the same size.i know alot of people on this site have their own opinions on cross breeding, but this is my first breeding attempt, so PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE!all i would like is the specific answers to my questions.no opinions,i ask respectfully:ok,what is the best way to introduce the two snakes?i was told by one person to make sure they were well fed,and to introduce the female into the males enclosure,is this correct?i was also told to do it on a day that the barametric pressure outside is low, such as on a rainy day, and to give them a slight misting to simulate the rainy season.is this correct?how long should i leave them together(i will have a camera on them at all times with a monitor in another room)?is it possible that they will attack each other, and if a bite occures will it be fatal considering that they are from the same family?and i guess that my final question is if mateing occures am i good to go,is one successful mateing attempt enough to guarantee a clutch? thanks in advance for any response. DANNY .p.s.once female is gravid should i increase enclosure temp?

I would introduce the MALE into the females enclosure. I'd keep the female as comfortable as possible. Use a weather program online, and try to replicate the temperatures and humidity levels of their native habitat, as well as precipitation (by spraying the cage down).
Other than that, I don't have much more to add. I personally don’t agree with such crosses.
Take Care,

I find it a little odd how many in the snake hobby shy away from mixing snakes, in this case Gabino. However, many have no problems with the other unethical breedings that are done to create different color morphs, scale less and other oddities that are made every year.
Not directed towards you John M. I'm just making a general statement.
What is the King snake X Corn Snake? Jungle Corn? I find it fascinating that this can be done (I guess similar to how we got different types of dogs/cats breeds) however I have never had the interest to own or create something like this.
I must admit, in my Sifi head, I always thought about a constrictor X Venomous snake creation. Maybe a King Snake X Rattlesnake.
I've heard that breeding Rhino's and Gabs is not easy but can be done. Someone I once new tried, the snakes bread but she never had any babies. He left them together all year and if I remember correctly he had 1 male Gab and 1 female gab and 1 female rhino in the same cage. There is another guy in town who was trying but i never checked back to see how it went.
I agree with John, introduce the Male to the females cage. IMO, males search out the females for breeding and seems more likely that the male would enter the females territory in most cases.
Those who breed snakes on a large scale will move one male around to several female cages during breeding season.

Yes. Despite being in the same genus one venom would be toxic to the other snake. They have very different venom compositions.
I have to agree that bastardizing the two species is a poor idea overall. However, they are not my snakes and it's not my call.
