I would like to know from which vendors the snakes were purchased from also.
Also, I don't think John Z. will respond to this (I may be wrong) he's said his thoughts on this several times.

A few of the snakes were bought from the same vendors but overall it was a mix of vendors. I am not mad or blaming anyone I am just perplexed by these sudden deaths and cannot seem to figure it out. I really appreciate all the advice and responses to my post and will update you guys on any new findings. Thanks Again.

Diseased snakes would seem to be more of a vendor issue than the show's fault. Sudden death, all at one time, of various snakes from different vendors seems to point to something else. Could they have perhaps gotten overheated at some point without your realizing it, as in the car? Were the containers they were in well ventilated? etc.

You are correct Fred. The Promoters job is to bring in the vendors AND the PUBLIC. I can't tell what goes on at the vendor's facilities, neither can other Promoters. If we (at my shows') get complaints about a vendor's animals, I investigate as best as I can, and some are not invited back, due to bad customer service, not refunding money for SD (Sudden death) animals, etc. SOMETIMES, it IS, the purchaser's fault, i.e. can't care for them properly, left in the car, etc... that's why I do the best I can to investigate it.

The possibility of diseases to spread in such an environment as any reptile show is certainly there. I would be willing to bet that at least some of the dead animals came from the same vendor. Again, all of my animals have ate and are doing well.

I have to agree with Chris and FSB, any time you buy from a show, or even a vendor or pet shop there is a chance that animal has come into contact with diseases or conditions that could later kill it.
This is why you need to quarantine for at least 90 days. Some don't. It's a heck of a risk not to.

I know this is a little old but I picked up 5 from that show. All but one are dead now but I believe that would be unrelated. The sand boas refused to eat and were impossible to force feed. I guess I wasnt ready for the cerastes vipera's and as it turns out they need special care when it comes to giving them water because they refused to drink from the bowl. But my massasauga is still running like a champ. The show this weekend i'm definatley going to speak with the vendors a tad longer before any purchase.

That's what I was thinking. But even if they weren't sold by the same vendor they could have been purchase or traded to the vendor who had sold it by another prior to the beginning of the show...
