It just amazes (but does not amuse) me to see this fool who cannot even fill out his profile attacking - relentlessly - some of the most respected individuals in the herpetology/zoo field. Sir, how deep to you have to wade into the doo-doo (I realize this is a family page) before you realize that you have stepped in it? My advice to you is --- shut the hell up.

PS - Zoos have always been, and will forever be, an invaluable resource to the private sector, and vice-verse. I work at a zoo, and we work all the time to build and maintain productive relationships with knowledgeable individuals in the private sector. The one could not really exist without the other.

Just so you know AquaHerp I am writing A point for point rebuttal to your misinformed tirade, although I am actually suprised at your attempt to make sense using an argument that can actaully rest on it's own merits. It's like watching someone with autism do something all by himself for the very first time. Very inspirational. Although I would like the exact source citations for you argument. Where exactly are these papers on hybridized snake venom ? Don't just through out random books, I want the exact source citations, especially the one that says that 70% of zoos do not receive public aid. I am going to look into all of these accusations extensively and post my unbiased, detailed, findings. As for the rest of the subjective Comments that have been posted I would appreciate it if you people were a little less biased and a little more objective, although I understand that may be difficult since use work in zoos.

Just a little help for your grammar school book report, Doug cited all of his sources for you already, look em up...
Would you prefer Doug send you copies? Or write your report for you?

Tommy,
What you may not realize is that most of the experts who post here, like Doug, have far more important things to do with their time than give page-by-page quotes from their sources just to satisfy your musings. You are lucky, in fact, that they even entertain a conversation with you at all given all your contradictory nonsense and completely bull-headed attitude ever since you started posting here. Doug gave you a bunch of papers and books to read, so if you want to be informed on the topic, get off your lazy ass and read them.
The zoo I work at does not get public funding, in fact, we struggle to make ends meet most days. It would be great if we did get public dollars, but we don't deserve it. Why don't we? Because we don't take on any public projects! We are not involved in conservation efforts (I wish we were), but we just don't have the resources right now. Canada is a country that is much quicker to give public funding to institutions than the US does, and many of our zoos are indeed funded partly by tax dollars. The benefit of that is that our ecosystem gets to benefit from all that money being put back into it (instead of someone's bank account). Public funding is working OK for us up here. Not to say that you guys in the States are doing anything wrong, but I don't have to worry about how much high-quality health care is going to cost me and my family.
The AZA, CAZA and WAZA are good entities that set standards for animal care and human safety and holds those standards above profit. I don't think anyone has the right to complain about that... and to I'll repeat what I said earlier and what Doug also said:
Show us some REAL examples of how the private sector has taken the initiative and done some great environmental work on its own before you try to stand up on your derelict soap box.
I swear you're a sucker for punishment. Do you just try to throw rocks at a hornet's nest so you can get verbally abused by some of the best biologists and herpetologists in the US? Stop arguing for the sake of arguing. Why don't you go and take up knitting or something?

You won't get any more response from me. You are of no interest to me. Once again you can't seem to do your own homework. I gave you the exact citations to everything right down to the page number. You still can't get it! You want so bad to be right and to be taken seriously, yet you are lost in your own little delusions of importance and unfathomable ignorance. As I said before little troll; we have grown bored with you. Nothing, absolutely nothing that you have to say merits any more of my time. As has been pointed out so many times, while you post away trying to make some sad sense of your misguided theories, the rest of us will be doing the real work.
If you think that you are making some bold statement by arguing , you need to understand that you meant nothing to me on your first tirade, and you mean nothing to me now. I've gotten better aguments from spider monkeys.

Doug,
Laughed so hard at the last paragraph that I spat coffee all over my keyboard!
So I guess you owe me a new laptop... Can I get some tax dollars from your zoo for it? No one will notice a few bucks missing will they? Not with all that financially wasteull beaurocratic zoo nonsense!

Sure Luke-
Pick out a nice one. I have a huge pile of government money sitting in my office that I have to climb over every day, just so I can get to my other pile of money. If you like and can give you another big bag of money so you can go out and spread our evil oppression upon the lowly peasants.

Doug,
This site surely would be a much duller place without you! And, now I need a new keyboard, as well..
Must be hard climbing over that big pile of money, just to get to the other big pile of money, every time you enter your office! What a horrible problem to have..
I don't even mind this kid much anymore; it's comical. Although, if the blatant trolling, name-calling, etc, starts up again, I have been logging all IP's and machine protocol numbers, from the start. I worked programming for a number of software companies, and one has to realize that in this age, NOBODY is invisible online, no matter what software is used.
Although, lately, it is just plain funny.. It's definitely an attention-seeking thing; finding every point possible to disagree with people, and be argumentative. There's not even any direction or sense to it. And now, I go back to resisting the temptation to scratch the itch..
Though I did get a good laugh out of your post, and I thank you for that. =)
Take Care,
-J. Mendrola
