Hey guys,
I am a student and doing a project looking at the flow of venom through snake fangs. I have been desperately been trying to get a snake fang which I can study the flow through. As I understand, fangs naturally fall out after a few weeks.
Also, I've read that most venomous snakes have grooved fangs rather than tubular ones. I'm looking for the grooved kind.
Any leads anyone can give me would be great!
Thanks!

It is hard to get the fangs. Because they usually swallow them or they get stuck in the mouse then get swallowed. Therefore one has to go through the fecal matter to retrieve them. It's kinda messy and unsanitary. Many years ago I was cleaning an enclosure and there was a pile of feces. When I rolled up the cage liner it went through my finger. Venom is a protein and digestable. But I was concerned about a bacteria infection. It's probably easier to get fangs from dead specimens.

Ouch! So how does one go about getting a dead specimen? Or can someone send me a bunch of fecal matter to sort through?

I've seen adds on here for people wanting dead specimens. When a snake dies a lot of guys freeze them. Or some put them in a jar with alcohol and use them for educational purposes. You can post a free add here asking for any dead snakes. I don't think it's ok to ship poop. Lol

I have many fangs. I don't "dig" for them, sometimes they are exposed and you just pick them up. None are "grooved" though, they are hollow, they came from Georgia pit vipers. Email me your address and I'll send you a couple if you want them. Take care, Marty
