My wife and I were planning a trip to the Philippines and was wondering if any of you have herped there before and if so, would you be able to offer any advice on where and when would be the best time to go? To see some of the cobras and pit vipers in the wild would be an unforgettable experience! Thanks in advance for any helpful information.

All the species there are protected. You may want to contact Mario Lutz, who is a well known herper in the PI. Keep in mind that many of the Cobras are spitters there so you will need eye protection too. Naja philippinensis is reported to be the "Hottest" Cobra on the planet. The local A/V doesn't work, so take care.

Most of the snakes are in the northern islands. If your looking for a Pilipino king cobra they are very isolated in a small region called bundok. Enjoy. I was there last year visiting my grandmother. Just toss around some money if your getting harassed by the local authorities. Just do it wisely ;)
