Hello, I have two C. Cerastes , and I'm not sure of the subspecies of them. One was cb and has large horns, and one was collected from golden valley az near king man and has smaller horns. I was wondering If anyone had any info on the physical differences between subspecies . I'm making labels for my tank and wanted to I.D. Them correctly . Thanks for the help and your time responding.

Try Google and you might find out that C. cerastes are from north Africa not Arizona.

I believe you are referring to Crotalus cerastes, or sidewinder. That's not a species I keep, but I found this site to have a lot of info. Not sure if there is a reference to "horn size" for ID purposes. http://eol.org/pages/815843/details Hope it helps you out. Marty

Thanks for the site, I'll check it out. I found out the area my female was caught has intergrades. I just wasn't sure at first because it was a little out of both subspecies range. My male I'm still not sure of the subspecies. He was cb and was gifted to me and I can't seem to track down the original breeder. He looks different than the female. A little darker in color and has much larger horns. That's why I was asking for info regarding physical characteristics. Thanks again for your response. Much better than others...
