My son's dog looks to have been snake bitten. Has the two fang marks and has most of the snake bite symptoms. I'm very concerned because I have 3 grandkids here playing outside all the time. I live in the city of Waco, Tx. Is it possible a snake has bitten this time of year in Central Texas and what kind could it be?

Since we have had a warmer than usual winter, snakes have been a little more active than usual. They typically don't travel far or feed this time of year so I would expect the dog came across the snake close to where it was wintering. I have gotten a few Western Diamondback calls this winter.
More than likely it would have been either a Western Diamondback Rattlesnake or a Broad-banded Copperhead.
Both are found in the area.
Here are some suggestions for deterring snakes.
