Okay, this might be easier.
What three snakes have been your favorite species to catch so far?
Here are mine (Not in order).
Rocky mountain Rubber boa (Charina bottae utahensis), I believe it is currently recognized as Northern Rubber Boa (Charina b. bottae)
Arizona Coral snake (Micruroides e. euryxanthus)
Western Twin-spotted Rattlesnake (Crotalus p. pricei)

While serving in the Navy in the early 80's, we were in Rio Dejanero Brazil and I found a Jararrca on a back road at night while looking for a mongoose. At the time I had no idea what I had found. if only I could have got it on the ship!!!

The coolest snake I caught this year was a 65 inch Eastern Mud Snake while night cruising. Although very common where I live, I have never caught one this size.
I took it home with me for a week to gawk at before setting it free. A true gentle giant. Five years ago I caught a >7 foot Eastern Indigo Snake while out photograghing Mangrove Salt Marsh Snakes. That moment ranks high. One of my goals next year is to find a five foot plus Fl.Green Water Snake alive. I have found two or more 4-5 footers DOR in recent years, so I expect my luck to turn.

First off, before I answer the question and since I just can't resist, why on earth would you be looking for a mongoose in Brazil? If that is some inside thing then pardon my ignorance on it, but I'm assuming you know they are not indigenous to South America? Anyway, onto the question at hand...
I haven't really had any extremely amazing captures in the wild yet. In fact, I haven't even found a single live rattler in my home state of Arkansas. I have found DORs...but we won't get into that too much. Since I don't have any really amazing captures, I'd have to say my best herping was a road cruising excursion once this past late spring/early summer when it seemed like every 10 feet on the road was a new and ALIVE copperhead. It seemed like each one was a different size and different color, some the darker browns of the southerns and some a very nice orange-red of the osage variety. All on the same stretch of a partially mountain road. It just amazed me to see a good 10 to 15 snakes in that one night and not find any dead ones. None were kept, but that was an unforgettable experience.

Well even if they are not Indigenous, they can be found all over Southern Brazil and believe it or not, found on St Thomas in the virgin Islands. When we would hit a port, the first thing I wanted to know was what kind of creature was there to see. We would have a taxi drive us all around looking for something new, which to me, coming from the blue ridge Mtns of va, everything was new! All the other sailors spent money on hookers and beer and i spent mine on taxi's and tour guides.

After a little research and just to see if I am not crazy, the mongoose can be found as far north as eastern Mexico. The article said that it was possible that drug trafficers released them for some kind of purpose.
