I have been coming to web site for a long time now
And I just can not figure out why people will just not talk about there snake bites here ?
I mean I have talked with several people from here, and they have been bite by there snakes.
But when you ask about them here on the forums no one will say anything about it. Snake bite information is to me one of the best things to know about keeping venomous snake. You know, well I wonder what would happen if this cottonmouth tagged me.
It seems people just go on just not knowing. I am speaking of real life you, to me accounts of bites. Like how did you feel ? and what would happen to you ?
Things like that. That is one of the reasons I started my yahoo group. So We could all get the person to person facts. Well anyway I just thought I would ask about why there seems to be little to no talk about it here ?
I will tell you how I felt and what the bites did to me if you ask me. First hand rattle snakes, cottonmouth, copperhead bites.
Thanks for your time,
Fabe

This place was set up as a clearing house for information regarding the safe husbandry and keeping techniques involved in maintaining venomous reptiles.
To that end, most of the people who come here regularly view their bites as something very private and not something to be proud of.
Some, but not all, will discuss their bites privately via email, in person or by phone but they are becoming fewer and fewer as people in whom they have confided tend to throw the information shared back at them in a very public manner.
For what it is worth, you will be able to meet and talk with many people about their personal bite experiences at either the Columbia, South Carolina show or the Daytona Expo.
For my part, I have no personal venomous bite experiences to share and hope to keep it that way.

I posted a bite not more than two years ago in hopes of doing exactly what you asked, to inform, not brag. There were many replies, both positive and negative. However, there were so many not so pleasant replies from people who do not only like snakes, but think we (those that do) are completely nuts. As a herpetologist, and a private zoo owner, I catch a tremendous amount of heat from those that will not even give you the time of day. It got to the point where people would make accusations, cuss, and even condem the whole idea about keeping reptiles. So I just said to heck with trying to do anything public without it being soley directed at a group of simular interest. I do talks here in west Texas, but I will not bother with over the internet stuff. Every one has opinions, but there ought to be a way to project things without coming off pushy. If you have any questions about bites, feel free to ask. Alan

Snake bites are/or can be a part of keeping snakes, or just a bad day fishing.
It would seem me that people, fisherman, or venomous snake keepers, etc. would be able to ask about a forum like this a question about how it felt, or what it may do to them if , Say they were a mile off the road snake hunting, fishing, etc. and had some bad luck and got tagged. But everyone has to be afraid to ask a great question like that. Does not make any scents to me is all.
Why would someone put someone down for getting bite and wanting to share some info with others about what happened to them. Group, I am talking about this as a learning tool, I think there are more adult type people here than kid type. but if you can not talk about something like this with out being put in the ground, Than Maybe not. Why would this have to be something so secret about you would have to just talk about it via e-mails ? And a lot of us can not make it to the shows to talk to someone in person.
I don know !!!!
Wild.
Anyone that would like to talk about there snake bites and how it work on them are welcome to my yahoo group. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/snake_venom_and_body
Thanks Fabian
P.S. This site has a photo area of snake bites, Why not be able to talk about them to. I would love to hear others comments about it.
