Hy, I`m from Romania and I keep Vipera ammodytes, Vipera berus, Coluber caspius, Elpahe guttata at present. I had quite a number of NosHorned Vipers die from intestinal parasites, worms. I live in a country where reptile veterenarium check ups don`t exist. Neither do treatments for worms in snakes. How can I check if my snakes have worms and what simptoms sdould I look out for? If I were to detect worms in a snake is there any medicine that I could provide that is not reptile specialised? Please HELP ME. Thanks, Alex Strugariu(Snake17).

If your snakes have worms they will have low body weight and will be hungry all the time. Panacur will kill the following worms pin, round, hook and whip worms. Panacur (Fendendazole) is given by injecting the correct dose inside a mouse and feeding to the snake. Five weekly doses are needed. Praziquantel is used to kill tape worms and flukes. These drugs are used to treat farm animals as well as dogs and cats. You may want to buy the book What's Wrong With My Snake from a company called the Bean Farm on www.kingsnake.com several companies sell Panacur on kingsnake. Should you not be able to find a supplier yet me know. You will also need to clean and disenfect the snakes cage very well replace the substrate.
