For any of you people who are going to Cumberland Island and removing something(DON'T). I caught a florida pinesnake on that Island last year and regretably tried to remove it. I got on the ferry just fine, not knowing they had a cocker spanial on board in the cabin. To make a long story short, the dog sniffed my back pack out the second time around and I was not only humiliated, but spent 5 hrs in a jail in St Mary's and a $2,000 in total in fines.

We just got back from cumberland this week and found all sorts of good herps. Armadillos, skinks, eastern diamondbacks on the dungenese ruins and several other snakes about. Great place, but very, very protected. I wouldn't want to get caught with anything in my bucket from that place.

I like the anonymous confession ability that this site has. No one would fess up to doing something like that with their name attached!

Jeff- I think you've missed the point of that last anonymous post. No one is "taking a shot" at anyone, he/she was just making an observation and complimenting the site.

Yes, we were in the ruins and old slave quarters.Yoy can't actually go inside the ruins, which was somewhat of a disapointment but with all the rattlers in there it's understandable.

We found everything pretty early. I would say between 10am and 12noon. The slave quarters are 100 yards from the D ruins hidden by major tree cover. The easterns were visable in the breezway of the ruins.
