I have a very gravid T. Pope. This is the first time I'll have to raise the small ones. There is very little information on the subject, so I'll pose my questions here:
The female is spending a lot of time on the substrate. I suspect that's due to the fact that she may deliver any moment and has to deliver on the ground. If that's true, is that a sign that she may deliver very, very soon? I want to grab the babies as soon as I can, so I can place them in safe enclosures. Does anyone have any suggestions as far as what I should do when they are born? How many can I expect, 12-25? Will the babies immediately climb up or remain on the substrate?
Again, I'm excited about the peospect of having baby Popes and don't want to mess it up.
Thanks

go to the store and buy 30 1 pint clear deli conainers with lids
then get some bamboo skewers set each one up with a perch.
when the little ones are born they will take off so make sure your cage is secure.
set each one up with a wet paper towel on the bottom of the deli cup mist them but change the paper when mold apears.
make sure you give the little grean meanies lots of air holes six per cup
feed them small anoles or tree frogs.
dont worry about getting bit when they are small
I got 3 bites a day changing the little buggers but as they get a few sheds be carefull they hurt more.
some are tamer but most will strike asap.
I have raised up hundreds and they do very well.
