I am looking towars getting my first Rattlesnake soon. I am not sure exactly what kind. I want one that is around 3-4 feet when grown, and that is mild tempered. Any good suggestions?

My Favorite is the Red Diamondback (C. ruber). It does well in captivity and is relatively mild mannered. It is also quite beautiful and generally available as CB neonates or yearlings.
Good Luck,
Al

Well I just wanted to add a little input. My wife and I keep C.L.Lepidus(6pr),Crotalus cerastes(2pr),C. Molossus(1pr),C.Atrox(1pr),a couple of cobras, some tree vipers and numerous colubrids. I must say that within the time that we have spent with these magnificent animals that we have found that each individual has their own temperment. Also some of our mild mannered animals just seem to have bad days. So is it really possible to recommend one paticular species and say that species has a tendency to be less aggressive?

like mr. Vanecek said, all snakes have their own "personalities" if you will. Get which ever rattlesnake interest you the most. you will learn it's temperment and body language. Get what you want most, in doing so you will spend more time with it, learn its mannerisms, and ultimatly it will be better for you and the snake. Chris.
