hi,
does a rattlesnake lose its rattle when it sheds its skin or only when it dies? Where could I get a rattle snake rattle from if I want to collect them?

Each time a rattlesnake sheds it adds a button to its rattle. They can lose their rattles by crawling through fences, where I found one hung,or getting them snagged on roots and bushes. They do not lose them when they die. But if you find one dead on the road or something, cut it off and keep it. Thats what I do.

How many rattles would you like to have? Very seldom will you find a rattlesnake with no rattles. Every time they shed their rattles gain another link. Rattlesnakes can shed up to 4 or 5 times a year depending on the food supply. If you would like a rattle I could give you one if you will contact me.
