I want to hear other peoples opinions on feeding their animals live or frozen thawed. I will state that in my opinion, it is better to feed your snakes live than frozen thawed. I noticed when I switched some of my snakes to frozen thawed it changed their eating habits and it seems that the snakes don't look as good or as healthy. I have been keeping reptiles for 26 years and have always fed my snakes live. I have been trying frozen thawed on some select low end snakes with only negative results. I would like to hear what other people have to say on this subject. Thanks

live mice have parasites and can harm the snake in defense. In my opinion it is cruel to the snake to throw a live rodent in a small cage where the snake cant get away from it not to mention when my west african green mamba gets parasites from live rodents then I have to treat him for it. If you have been keeping reptiles for 26 years it seems like a dumb question.

I have found that in my experience that feeding frozen thawed has to main pros. 1st it kills parasites and it keeps the snakes from getting injured from bites and scratches. 2nd it makes the snakes not so jumpy when you open their enclosures. It kind of desensitizing the snakes from associating movement to prey/food. Overall promoting a calmer snake. Hope this helps.
Later,
Todd
