I actually hadn't even thought of neotropical rattlers when I typed that. I guess they'd rank right up there as well. I was just giving aspers the respect I believe they deserve based on 1.) their size, 2.) their temperament, 3.) their toxicity, and 4.) the number of people that die from them each year. I'm sure neos are just as bad if not worse, but I haven't looked into them like I have the aspers so I don't know much about them. The neo I saw down in Belize was very pretty, but that's about all I know about them...lol. Hopefully the next time I make it down to Belize I'll get to see both species in the wild and see exactly how tough they are to deal with.

They do have one hell of a rep, especially with the amount of tissue destruction. Good to hear you actually saw a wild neo. It's a snake that gets overlooked, especially their neuro venom.

I wish I had seen a wild neo. The terciopelo and neo I did see were both "wild," but they were at the Belize Zoo. All animals at that zoo are rescues or orphans, so technically they were wild, but being held in captivity, lol. They actually had that neo labled as tzabcan. I wasn't aware tzabcan occurred in Belize, and a few people I've talked to about it since said that it was probabled mislabled. Ah well, like I said, it was a gorgeous snake. Go to our website, http://www.rivervalleysnakes.com and take a look at the Belize pictures to see some we took of both the terciopelo (with a rather large tick on its head) and the neo.
