currently i live at the foothills of the mountain of north carolina in the city of hickory. i do not think there any rattlers in my area, and i want to actually see some in the wild. right now i keep copperheads and i dont have the space i would need to take a step up to rattlers. there for i just want to observe them in the wild, face to face so to speak. im very determined to find at least one, but i have no clue where my chances would be the best. has anyone here ever succesfully found them in the mountains of north carolina? my speculation is that near the georgia line would be good. anyone have any input?

I live in the Foothills as well (in the Tryon-Saluda area)...And have no trouble finding timbers in this area..Greenville Watershed area is great...In fact during the summer months on any hot evening ..after a late afternoon thundershower..just cruise those back Mt roads right up till dark and your bound to find timbers..along with copperheads..in Western NC ive had real good luck over in the Robbinsvile area ..Again ,in the evening/// Good luck
