I need help. I got this snake from someone and he said it was a Crotalus Ruber. Now, all of the pictures of Rubers that I have seen have patternless heads. They don't have the slashes of white or yellow down the sides of their faces. My snake does have those slashes but is very red in color on the rest of his body. All of the atroxes that I have seen have the slashes but are very sandy brown in color. Could this one be a hybrid or is it a straight ruber with different head coloration? I don't have a pic or I would display it.

Yeah, most of them lack the facial markings, but I have seen a few pix of those that have a light stripe fore & aft of the eye, much like that of the cottonmouth. I do believe you have a ruber.

Thanks Greg, I really thought it was a Ruber too but I have heard of cases where Rubers and Atroxes get mixed up with one another and end up cross breeding. Anyway, he really is a nice looking snake. I'll try to put a pic on this site sometime.
Regards
Clayton
