I removed a light fixture from the eave of my house to replace it. The fixture was attached to the electrical box which was attached to the eave. There is a three quarter inch hole that goes up into the attic that the wires run through. Inside the depression of the fixture itself were about twenty or more small (about half inch) round, smooth, white, hardshell eggs. There is no way a bird could have gotten in there to lay eggs, but I'm not sure about a snake. I do have a lot of black racers around my area. Do these sound like they could be some kind of a snake egg? If it is a snake, do they like attics? The eggs from whaterver they were were all dried up inside, and I couldn't make out what kind of creature they were. If you have any ideas, please let me know.

When I was a child, I raided my fair share of Green Anole nesting sites. The eggs you described sound like that of the Green Anole or another lizard species. They lay hard eggs like birds.

Not knowing where in the world you found the eggs, it is difficult to pin down species. That said, your description of hard shell does seem to rule out snakes. Their eggs have a pliable, leather-like shell. Again, back to the location...one possibility is some form of gecko. South Florida has several species crawling around.
