Posted a question a few weeks ago and was surprised to only get one response. Going to Palm Springs in November and curious about good places to find rattlers and how many different types present there. Thanks, hope this second post gets more attention.

Saw your post. I live in Yucca Valley Ca which is about 40 miles from Palm Springs up in the high desert right about 5 miles from Joshua Tree National Park. You can't collect in the park boundaries but I have found that the hills around the park and Yucca Valley are good spots. I really haven't found a lot near the city of Palm Springs for obvious reasons. I guess what i am trying to say is that I have found the mountainous areas in the high desert more fruitful. You may experience cold weather in November though in the high desert It got pretty cold last year in November in Yucca. The low desert in November is very nice though. Not too hot. If you want to hunt the low desert, you'll need to go out of P.S.. Find empty lots of desert. I think BLM owns a lot of the empty desert but check to make sure your not trespassing on someone elses land. Hope this helps

From Palm Springs, head west on 111 the second to last exit is "Snow Creek Rd." It is well populated with sidewinders, red diamonds, and Cal. Kings towards the front -- as you get towards the mountains at the end of the road you can pick up speckled rattlers and rosy boas. Whitewater Canyon is also close by, but I find more snake hunters there than snakes. However, there are a lot of snakes still. From Palm Springs, head west on I-10 and get off on the Whitewater exit. The canyon is to your right, but the other area to your left is quite prolific also.
Happy herpin'
