Everglades questions

I'm planing a herping trip down to the Everglades for a week sometime next year and I was wondering some questions.
1. What is the best month to go? I was thinking sometime in June. But I don't know for sure.
2. Where are good places to look for herps? Are there any good roads. I want to do a lot of road cruising.
3. Where is a good place to stay while I'm down there.
4. One of my main goals is to find an Eastern Diamondback and I wonder where down there is some good spots to look for them.
I am thinking about stoping in Waycross, Ga for a night and herp there then head down to the Everglades.
Please if you have any infomation please help.

Loop rd is an excellent spot for road cruising. It's in big cypress swamp, just i bit north of Everglade City.

BTW, as long as you're down here, come check us out at the Everglades Outpost. http://www.evergladesoutpost.org/ Come on a Saturday or Wednesday and I'll show you around the snake room. I haven't counted in a while, but we have around 35-40 species of venomous...
