My Osage is now about 20" and is normally an avid feeder. He started refusing food two weeks ago. I have him in a 20 gallon tank, he has a hide box and water bowl. The temp. during the day in his tank is about 83 degrees. He seems interested in the food when I place it in his enclosure, rapidly flicking his tongue at the mouse and moving in closer to it. However when the mouse moves towards him he backs away. I've tried offering him a significantly smaller mouse than he's capable of swallowing, but he reacts the same way to it. I also tried offering him a dark mouse that closely resembles a field mouse. But no dice. He seems hungry to me. He's always out looking up at the top of the tank "waiting". What for? My other snakes are all feeding fine. I've never had a problem like this.
Something curious that I noticed and am not sure if it's related to his refusing food- A couple of weeks ago I noticed a fowl stench coming from his tank, much like a musk. When I looked close I saw a small deposit of some green excrement or something. Has anyone heard about something like this? Is it maybe a normality for him to go off food for a while?
Any advice appreciated.

One thing you might conside it intestinal paracytes. You might take a stool sample to a local vet and have them take a look. They can pick up worms & protozoans from mice.
Also...I vary what I feed my animals...mice,quail,chicks, and rats. They don't only eat one type of food...maybe it just is bored.
Good Luck,
Al

Thanks for the advice fellas. I was wondering if the green musky deposit was something to do with his developing reproductive organs. Just a thought. Thanks again.
