He’s amusing. I watch, and I don’t root for the “critter” to bite him like I do for Jeff. Is that support?

i like his comic value i think he s funny and his shows are nt bad its interesting to see what snakes he catches but all his shows that i ve seen are simuler to each other and get boring after a while .it might just be my opinion but he could be more educating maybe he could drop some more scientific facts about the snakes.
thats what i think about him any way .

Joy...your really funny. I thought the same about Jeff till I met him. He's wacko in some ways but way safer than Steve and uses hooks, seting a good example for young Herpetologists.
I respect Steve because he has done alot for reptiles overall. Shaun is right, It would be nice if he added some additional facts on the animal being molested. I will tell you he has some close shaves with Hots.

I LOVE STEVE!! He has been my hero since the first I ever saw him. That is why i only wear kakai when herping. My plann in life is to get a PHD in Herpetology and go work at his zoo. He has done so much for crocodiles and other wildlife. His zoo has the largest breeding program of endeagered wildlife in the world. I want to just be like him when I get older. I like jeff too. He knows a lot. He is very intellegent. I will move too australia and become of a citizen of it too.

I agree with Shaun and Phobos. But Mark O`Shea is my nomber 1 favorite. I also like Zoltan from National Geographics`s Snake Wranglers and Donald Strydem from SOuth Africa. Austin Steven is an idiot.

I really was joking about Jeff, but I did love the sun bear for passing gas on him! He seems to be able to laugh at himself, and that makes great entertainment. I’m also a fan of O’Shea and NGC’s Dr. Barr. They give some of the best information.
From what I understand of Australia, their culture is a bit different than ours. If someone sees someone do something incredibly stupid (for an untrained amateur) on TV and goes out and tries it for themselves, the consequences are chalked up to natural selection. No law suits and legislation there! (Ah! Utopia!) So Steve can free handle whatever he wants. And he seems to be a national hero for it.
They’re all good for herps in general. If these shows teach both kids and adults just a little respect and curiosity for reptiles, amphibians, and wild life in general, they are making ours a better world. And all of these guys up in the camera are certainly on the front line, for better or for worse.
Plus they are bringing our passion/past time mainstream. What was viewed as a sick, twisted, demented freak affliction when I was a kid, is now accepted as a mere personality quirk.
