What do you meen by spitting cobra atacs ? The venom the spitting cobra sprays at it`s atackers is only harmfull if it eneters the eyes or an open woulned. If it enters the eye it can damage the corneea and cause temporery blindness or I even heard it can cause permanenet damage. If it enters a woulned it would be just like any elapid snake bite. I also read somewhere that, if the cobra spits on the skin and the venom is not washed of, it can be absorbed by the skin and become harmfull too. I realy don`t know how much truth is in this though. If the venom is spat in the eyes, the eyes should be thoureghly washed with water as quickly as possible. Hope this is of some help.

hi
good question about the spitting cobras , the most effective treatment is to wash the eye with large quentities of water this will remove residues of venom from the eye , the best way is to postition your self under a gently flowing tap and rotate your eye. alternatively put the victims face under water where they can rotate the eye balls and blink vigorously. in the absence of a water sauce other fluids can be used such as cold tea , urine, and milk are often soothing. put never use pottasium on any venom bite or spit.
anesthetic eye dropswould be most use full for the pain but the victim would find it difficult not to rub the eye, its better to cover the eye withcotton wool pad or soft bandage .adrenaline drops will releaf the pain and if possible use anti biotic eye ointment for prophylaxis.
anti snakes serums should be available in the field when people keep them they better be sure they know what there doing as most dont .
