While in big bend last month we talked to a female game warden that told us they killed venomous snakes on the spot. Now how is it that they can pull that off? We were all very shocked when she told us that but her reasons were that of safety for visitors but that's insane.I feel like writing them about that.

Go ahead and write. That's something that she and perhaps her little circle of uneducated cronies undertake. Now, just because someone wears the uniform does not make them a ranger, warden, biologist, etc. The Parks and Wildlife folks hire all types to work the park that technically work there but do little more than pick up trash, lifeguard, clean restrooms, tear tickets and the like. It does not surprise me at all.
I caught wind of a park worker in Indiana that was observed stopping his truck, jumping out and clubbing to death a timber, and protected species, and tossing it into the back of his truck. Needless to say this person no longer has a job with the State. But it goes to show that these people need more education when it comes to these things. At the very least they need to understand the law. The law states, and park employees are NOT exempt, that EVERYTHING in these park systems is protected and is not to be harassed, removed and above all killed.
Personally, I would contact the folks at Big Bend and let them know how their staff promotes the park for their visitors. It's really okay to pick and choose what you want to enjoy and what you want to destroy while you're there. "Did you see the way that deer just looked at me"? "Where's my club"?

That is one of the saddest things I have ever heard of. They do it for the visitors. That is the biggest load of crap I have ever heard. I would like to go there and collect as many snakes as possible and release them to an area where they won't get bludgeon to death by rangers and vistors. I think if a vistor goes out into nature it is a risk to may encounter a snake but the human solution to everything is kill first, ask later. Man down in the okefenokee swamp those rangers are so protective. I got yelled at for having a hook on the premise. By the way where is that park?
P.s. Someone really needs to talk to higher authority of that park.

You know nothing is as it seems, they would have you believe that it is unlawful to take anything out for any reason, but in reality they are not going to have any liability issues on thier hands. At least that is they way I took the conversation. Before I came over to join the conversation, She had told one of the fellows that I was with that they had just killed a large WDB in the emplyee camp area, which consisted of a bunch of trailers hidden in an are off limits to visitors. I wish I had looked at her name, but I don't know if I want to unemploy someone if it's not her policy.
