I'm 26 too, and just got into hots, after many years of owning colubrids, asian rat snakes, boas, and smaller pythons.
I've had people tell me they feel I'm not ready, and had others tell me that only I will know when I'm ready.
It does get irritating trying to differentiate between those who are honestly trying to help and those who have what I call "king of the mountain" syndrome.
My personal belief is that only the keeper will know when he/she is ready.
