Does anyone have any tips for building any mice cages? I want one that can hold a number of breeding pairs. I want to know a cheap and effective way to build one.

what i have done is make a rack system up using large rubbermaids or simular to keep the mice in
make shure you have some mesh over the tops tho ;)
we can't get them over in the U.K. but i know several of my m8's in the states are using the concreate mixing trays you can buy in wallmart
hope that helps
oh and deff 1:5 or even upto 1:10 is fine
personaly i have 1 or 2 males that constatly are swaped between the females encloseures as and when i want them to breed
saves on wasting food on males that arn't the key to producing babys ( well in the same way as the moms are)

I've had better luck raising dwarf hamsters as a food source.they seem to propagate faster and dont have the tendancy to get nervous and eat the babies.
