My girl loves herps. She was afraid of them when I first met her but now she handles all of them both hots and nonvens and she even helps me on the field catching snakes or she catches them her self. She`s a future herpetologist for sure.

I was just married this year. Before I got married my wife said there is no way you'll ever bring a snake into our house! Well, we now have over 20 snakes and over half are hots. No, I'm not on the verge of divorce. Once she began learning about snakes, she has really grown to appreciate them. I recently told her I was going to get rid of a few snakes and she refused to let me do so. She has all of them named and regularly handles the non-venomous ones. She absolutely loved road cruising this year so I bought her,her very own handling equipment which she has already began using to catch snakes. I am so glad God blessed me with such a wonderful wife!

I just got married this summer and my wife and I went to AZ on a herping honeymoon. She gets just excited to keep and find snakes as I do. She loves pythons and she loves my hot room. She just bought me an albino atrox for my birthday.
My Dad supports my work too. He loves to meet us somewhere in the US and herp for rare crotes. But he just stands there are looks puzzeled when my wife and I are jumping up and down after finding a "life lister."
The in-laws on the other hand...........lol.

My wife didn't have too much interest in snakes before she met me, but now I think she's starting to enjoy them too. The biggest mile stone was convincing her to let me get a venomous. When she saw how content they are in their enclosures and are not out for blood I think her perspective was changed. I've just recently obtained an e. cottonmouth, I also have a copperhead, and this weekend we'll be taking a ride to get a little dusky pig(mostly her idea, which I had no problem with).

My girlfriend (very long term) was afraid of snakes when I first met her. She now has 6 of her own (non-ven since we don't have a hot room yet), and is working with me at the refuge to put in hours for her VR permit. She handles everything but the largest rattlers and the more dangerous elapids.

My wife said I would never have a snake, be it ven or not, in the same house with her. She said this nine years ago when we met. She even was instramental in getting rid of my Burms. Since then we have had a few snakes, mostly nonvens. I have recently in the past two years gotten back into vens and she is still unsure but she tolerates them. She took a big step not too long ago by handling a King snake that I have. this was also something she said she woould never do. She really won't have anything to do with the venomous that I have but as I said, she now tolerates them. She makes a face every time she walks past an enclosure and hears a rattle though. So all in all, I think she has come a long way. Now I just have to get her to tolerate elapids. This could be a tough one.

Well I am glad that everyone has a better half dealing with herps!!!!!!!! Myself on the other hand is a different story. About a month before I got married I got my very first snake(corn)two months later got my second one and so on. She did not mind the snakes themself but she hated all the time I would spend with my reptiles. She would not let me have hots. Well now that she and I have split my collection is out of this world and I have a N. copperhead. I AM REALLY GOING TO MISS HER----yea right.
By the way I do think my herps have a small part of us splitting. Oh well!!!!!!!!!

Girlfriends...Wives.... What about moms?! I'm 21 and 6 hrs away from home attending my Junior year in college. I've been collecting and keeping snakes for over 16 years and my mother STILL yells at me and "threatens to take my Christmas presents back" when she sees the pictures and videos of me in the field with Crotalids. My father, on the other hand, regularly comes up here to hunt with me!
