What kind of cottonmouth

Hi, I found 3 cottonmouths in South Mississippi(Wiggins) Im wondering what subspecies are they. Eastern,Florida...possibly western. You can see the pictures in the Field Photos section on page 18 or you can see my profile pic of the red one I caught. Thank You.

That is one very good looking Cottonmouth, one of the best I've seen. I don't know, maybe it's a unique population or just a color morph. A real field study would be needed to tell for sure.

In Mississippi you have both. The Easterns (piscivorous) are found outside the Delta and the Western subspecies (leucostoma) is found inside the Delta.

Just by a general look, they would appear to be Easterns. There does not look to be enough facial striping for a leucostoma. Of course they do intergrade in MS too so that has always made some identification rough, but outwardly, I'd say piscivorous.
