These hurricanes really do mess up snake hunting dont they? Well they dont here in Waycross! Right before they hit snakes are moving everywhere and about a week after the hurricanes are gone the snakes are moving again. We have been catching pygmy rattlers, ribbon snakes, garter snakes, water snakes, and few canebreaks ans numerous dead snakes on the road. During the hurricanes themselves though, there are no snakes. Maybe after this one the snakes will move again.

I live in north georgia, so we dont get the effects too bad from the hurricanes(Besides rain). I bet you love living that close to the Okefenokee. That has been my dream to live down there or at least look for wildlife down there. Well...good luck.

Yes, this is the best place for snakes! Ask anyone who has hunted snakes with me down here. I've went to Folkston and Nahunta but they do not compare to my area. If you come to Waycross anytime, look me up. I will show you some good areas and I'm certain we will find some snakes. My friend Jason Clark lives in North Ga and he comes down here to hunt with me. I dont know if you know him or not.

Mabye next year I might go down with Jason to go herping with you guys. You are right about how the area is so great. In only a few days I caught like 13. I love that area and spend all my time down there. That area has some of the best road crusing roads ever!!!

Well we got about a month or a little more before the snakes will be gone, but right now they are plentiful. We dont find as many cottonmouths when it gets closer to winter. We mostly find watersnakes, ribbon snakes, garter snakes, pygmy rattlers, timber rattlers, and occasionally other snakes. Phillip, if you can, get in touch with Jason and tell him to email me and check his email.

Hey Kyle,
I am having the same problem. I can not get in touch with Jason. I try calling his cell and no reply and have emailed him. I have been wondering were he is. Mabye he is out of town. Three weeks ago I was suppose to go with him up to see Jeremey and catch some snakes. Then he cancelled and said mabye next weekend if the weather is go. So I try calling him all week no answer. I have even tryed his home phone. I call his cell about every few days. I will still try to get in touch with him. And when I do I will tell him to email you.
Phillip
