Phillip, Steve also took a 3 month old baby i think it was, into a salt water croc cage wile he was feeding the animal. Now, you want to talk bout reclous ppl, i would say that that is very reclous cosedering at anytime he could have droped that child and in all probabilaty the child would have been killed at the least if not eaten. So all i can say is dont talk bout somone being a moron, couse i thing that the Croc Hunter himself needs to learn some common sence would you agree.....and i also saw him place hes little girl in danger by puting her on the ground by her self with a 20ft. reticulated python at hes own zoo. At the time hes little girl wasent much over 2 years in age.....now would you call that moronic, or am i just seeing things?......sorry for the harsh statments but to me the worst TV herper out thare is Steve Irwin, and to this day i will never understand why AP didnt councle his show....i would have........well just my openion.....thank you....and happy herping..Wally

TJ ,I understand comic relief. But I think by lowering our standards we do a disservice to reptiles and dumb down viewers. We need to offer people like Dr. Bruce Means and Dr. Fry more media time. When you only promote bad information the public grows to accept less good information. General public believe that TV is not just entertainment but that it gives real facts which we know is not true with several animal programs.
All the kids are watching these people and picking up bad habits and learning bad science. All the hosts claim to be doing research when only a small group really are.
Watching animals be abused for ratings is not right.

The thing about it is simply money. He is exciting to watch and the producers at AP don't care how many bad examples their shows set or how much bad info is pushed off on the public. I enjoy watching him even though he gets bit and sets a bad example. The guy's crazy/stupid and that's exciting. Excitement and danger are the things that draw viewers in. The general public knows very little about snakes and simply want to watch some idiot doing something dangerous. This is the reason Evel Knievel is a rich man, of course he can barely move, but he's got money. People love to see dangerous adventures and more than that they love it when things go wrong. Unless Austin Stevens dies I think his show will do very well financially, which insures that he'll be around as long as AP is makig money off of him. It is sad but true that everything, especially with TV, comes down to money and who can make the most for the company. That's just my opinion, correct me if you think I'm wrong.
Regards, John Tedens

I say live life, push all the boundaries, break a few rules, Were all going to die someday. Whether its tomorrow or eighty years from now. In about a hundred years, nobody will no or care to know us. He free handles some snakes. SO what. He got bit so what. An arm chair biologist isnt going to see him freehandle a cobra than be like "Hey I can do that" and go buy a plane ticket to Africa. People just watch and forget. The only person who leaves an impact (Conservation wise) is Steve Irwin, THe man, The Legend. We love ya mate.

I can’t wait.
This guy is a brilliant example of what not to do and how to get your self envenomated! Watch and learn! Watch and learn!
(Not that I want to see this guy or any other die, but I would love for some animal to teach him a lesson. But he seems to have Blessed Idiot Syndrome.)
I agree with previous posts. It’s all about making money. And AP will have my attention. I’ll watch the show to see the snakes (and cheer for them!). And a lot of people will be watching the show to see AS get bit again. Hopefully, everyone watching will know better than to emulate him.
I don’t think it’s appropriate to compare AS the exhibitionist-world record holder-with ANY of the other hosts. There’s no conservation, little if any information presented, and the animals are OBVIOUSLY stressed by their encounters with AS. The other hosts are presenting information to the general public. AS is pimping to the adrenaline Fear-Factor crowd.

His shows are so-so. I think he should put his camera down for awhile though. Did you see how close he got to the boomslang?? He seems to know what he is doing though, but I would say with a camera crew around, you can get pretty careless(OR Brave)

Hey Wally,
In the 80s did you save hundreds of salt water crocdiles from death. Did you discovered you own turtle. Do you have a zoo that has one of the top breeding programs of endangered animals? No!!! I do not think so.
You never saw the whole tape of the Baby Bob incident. They already fed the croc several piceces of meat. The crocodile was already getting tired. His whole family was there including his dad, his sisters, his wife, and all of is zoo staff. That whole thing was a special occasion for the opening of Crocosium.
I think you and almost everyone else is jelious of Steve because he is succesful and you are not. He has made tons of money. Also you don't seing him spending his money on himself. He put all the money in his zoo or trys to help people all around the workd. Did you ever saw the episode where he gave the people of east timor a lot of money to help in the reconstrustion. He also gave all the children shirts and other types of cloths. His staff and him also saved two crocodiles from horrid conditions.
So don't call him a moron. He put his money where his mouth is. He is a great man who tries to help anyone in need. He is not a richy and snobby. He cares for people and animals a like. He would die to save the life of animal and so will I. He is my icon and I will always love him. He has done more for the reptile community than you ever will. The ways he holds snakes are his ways and he says do not do this. Other than Steve Austin who says nothing of the sort.
Steve Austin is a horrible t.v. host. All he tries to do is piss the snake off for pictures. What about Mark O'Shea. On two occasions I have seen him bit by venomous snakes on his show. One was in Africa where he miss identified a stiletto and when he was in Indonesia and he put his hand on a bad with some kind of tree pit viper. Steve Irwin has never been bit by a venomous snake. If he does than it is his fault and he understands that. I know people who keep snakes and say if one of there snakes bite them they would kill it.
I love Steve Irwin. I also like Jeff Corwin, Rob Bredle, Okefenokee Joe, Dr. Bryan G. Frey, and Ron Whitaker.

Phillip, the point here is that Steve Irwin should have known as well as any humanbeing, that it dont mater how much you feed a croc or any other predator for that fact, the chance of the animal still being able to hurt you is still there. So do you think a responcible adult like Steve would have the right to take a child in one arm and hold a hunk of meat in the other and feed a croc well over 14ft. in length, think of what would have hapend if he had droped the baby without meaning to and the croc grabed the child. You know as well as i do that if that would have hapend the chances of the child surviving would be little to none. So in my mind and vew any humanbeing that would be so reclose as to feed a large predator wile holding a helpless baby in hes / her arm would be very moronic. Now, if i saw Austin Stevens do somthing like that with a child, it would make me think he was a moron to. I dont see why any person in our comunity wants to suport such foolish behavur. Im no expert but it dont take a roket scientsit to see that such crazzzzyyyyy actions can have bad reactions......just my opinion.....happy herping Wally
